They started meeting frequently to discuss and explore the possibilities of developing closer ties than routine inter-library loan. As a result of these efforts\, the Bombay Science Librarian’s Association (BOSLA) was formed in October 1975. \nPresently\, the association has grown to include more than 500 life members nationwide. The association keeps organizing seminars\, conferences\, and workshops in association with various institutions with the main objective of upskilling the working knowledge of the librarians. \nMain objectives of the Association: \n\nTo improve the services of the Bombay Science Libraries.\nTo cooperate actively to benefit mutually by the resources available to the libraries.\nTo strengthen the financial resources of the science libraries in Bombay.\nTo raise the professional standard of library staff in the Bombay Science Libraries.\nTo improve the status and service conditions of the library staff in Bombay.\nTo maintain liaison between the professionals and the Government.\n\nAbout BITS Pilani\, Mumbai Campus Library\nThe BITS Pilani\, Mumbai Campus Library serves as the integrated knowledge hub for the BITS School of Management (BITSOM)\, BITS Law School (BITSLAW)\, and BITS Design School (BITSDES)\, supporting excellence in management\, law\, and design education through a rich ecosystem of information resources\, technology-enabled services\, and collaborative learning spaces. R. Ranganathan\, the pioneer of Library and Information Science in India\, the Bombay Science Librarians’ Association (BOSLA) and BITS Pilani Mumbai Campus are jointly organizing a National Level Seminar on the theme: “Libraries 5.0: Intelligent Knowledge Ecosystems” on 22nd August 2026. \nThe seminar will focus on the theme “Libraries 5.0: Intelligent Knowledge Ecosystems\,” highlighting how Artificial Intelligence (AI)\, big data\, cloud computing\, and other emerging technologies are transforming libraries into intelligent\, user-centric knowledge hubs. There are two campuses in Mumbai\, at Juhu and at Kharghar. It has a rich history of cutting-edge R&D in areas of Computer Graphics\, Computer Networks\, Language Translation\, Educational Applications of AI\, Resource Scheduling\, etc. It was among the pioneers in bringing the Internet to India through the ERNET project\, and also in multilingual technologies. \nNotable achievements of the C-DAC Mumbai \n\nCustoms Valuation project for Indian Customs\, Kenya\, and Ethiopia.\nNational and State-level e-Governance Service Delivery Gateway.\nBiometrics solutions for Fingerprint\, Iris\, and Face Recognition.\nA collection of virtual lab experiments for schools (Olabs)\nILO-compliant seafarer identification solution for DG Shipping.\nProviding the entire software solution for the GATE examination\, spanning from candidate registration to score report and counselling.\nMobile Seva project.\nLong Range Identification and Tracking for DG Shipping.\nThe Centre runs the PG-DAC and PG-DBDA 6-month diploma programmes at both the campuses\, with excellent placement records so far.\n\nCurrently\, the center is working in areas like Authentication Technologies\, Disaster Recovery\, Microservice-based application development\, Deep Learning applications\, Mobile Computing\, Blockchain Solutions\, Virtual Labs\, Educational games\, Robotics\, Accessibility\, Online Assessment\, etc. \n\n\n\n\nAbout \nC-DAC Mumbai Library\n\n\nThe C-DAC Mumbai Library of the Institute plays a significant & vital role in serving the faculty\, research fellows\, students & staff. The library is well-equipped with modern facilities and resources\, including CD-ROMs\, Online databases\, books\, bound volumes\, project reports\, and conference proceedings\, in the fields of Information Technology\, Electronics\, Management\, and allied subjects. There are two libraries\, respectively\, in the Juhu and Kharghar centers. It was very popular among researchers in the fields of information technology\, electronics\, software development\, computer science\, management\, and other related fields at the time of NCST. The library has a separate stack for textbooks\, periodicals (current and bound volumes)\, CD/DVD\, Reference sections\, Book Bank Section\, and a separate enclosure with cubicles for research fellows and faculty members. The library facilitates access to several e-resources through the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative\, Govt. of India\, and it includes IEEE\, ACM\, and E-books through its participation in the MCIT consortium. The library is rapidly developing its collection of books\, reference books\, periodicals\, and electronic resources. The library subscribes to a number of journals\, periodicals\, and newspapers. All three modalities of treatment\, viz.\, surgery\, chemotherapy\, and radiation\, are offered under one roof. Started as a philanthropist from the house of Tata’s since the 1960s\, it is under the financial and administrative control of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). TMH is listed in the prestigious directory offering cancer treatments around the world by the UICC (Union for International Cancer Control-WHO). TMH offers various\, UG\, PG and the super-specialty courses in oncology and allied discipline. \nAbout Digital Library\, TMH\nThe visionary management of the institute has realized the importance of the library from its inception. TMH Digital Library has evolved over a period. It is spread over an area of about 5\,500 square feet. The present print collection of books is more than 8\,600 and bound volumes 22\,000. We subscribed to more than 3000+ mostly International journals mainly in digital format dedicated to the oncology and allied disciplines. This brings uniqueness to the oncology collection to cater for the clinical and other information needs of the clientele. In addition\, the library subscribes to five E-Databases. \nAbout BOSLA\nThe Bombay Science Librarian’s Association (BOSLA) was established in October 1975 and officially registered on 9th March 1978 with Registration No. F4735 (BOM) at the Office of the Charity Commissioner\, Maharashtra State\, Mumbai. BOSLA is one of the oldest professional bodies dedicated to the welfare of the LIS profession since 1970. Over the years\, membership has increased significantly\, and currently\, it boasts over 500 life members from research\, academic\, college\, school\, public\, and corporate libraries. They started meeting frequently to discuss and explore the possibilities of developing closer ties than routine inter-library loan. As a result of these efforts\, the Bombay Science Librarian’s Association (BOSLA) was formed in October 1975. \nPresently\, the association has grown to include more than 500 life members nationwide. The Knowledge Resource Centre functions and services are fully automated with state-of-the-art Koha-LMS software and the latest RFID/EM technology”. \nAbout DPIIT IPR Chair\nDepartment for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT)\, Ministry of Commerce and Industry\, Government of India\, launched a Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA) in the year 2016 under which IPR Chairs have been set up in select universities and academic institutes. This was in accordance National IPR Policy launched by the Government of India in 2016\, which proclaims\, as one of the objectives under section 7.2 as\, “Strengthen IP Chairs in educational institutes of higher learning to provide quality teaching and research develop teaching capacity and curricula and evaluate their work on performance based criteria.” MNLU Mumbai has been selected by the DPIIT as one of the 12 universities/organizations for setting up IPR Chairs in the country. \nAbout Webinar\nBOSLA and MNLU Mumbai (KRC) have collaboratively organized an online National Level webinar to commemorate “World Intellectual Property Day\,” traditionally observed on April 26\, 2024.
