They started meeting frequently to discuss and explore the possibilities of developing closer ties than routine inter-library loan. As a result of these efforts\, the Bombay Science Librarian’s Association (BOSLA) was formed in October 1975. \nPresently\, the association has grown to include more than 500 life members nationwide. The association keeps organizing seminars\, conferences\, and workshops in association with various institutions with the main objective of upskilling the working knowledge of the librarians. \nMain objectives of the Association: \n\nTo improve the services of the Bombay science libraries.\nTo cooperate actively so as to benefit mutually by the resources available to the libraries.\nTo strengthen the financial resources of the science libraries in Bombay.\nTo raise the professional standard of library staff in the Bombay science libraries.\nTo improve the status and service conditions of the library staffers in Bombay.\nTo maintain liaison between the professionals and the Government.\n\nAbout Seminar\nBOSLA and GNIMS Mumbai (KRC) in collaboration are organizing a National Level Seminar to commemorate the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan\, Father of Library and Information Science in India. The seminar on “Evolving Roles and Spaces in Librarianship: Competencies and Beyond” promises to be an enlightening and transformative event for all participants. This seminar aims to explore the dynamic landscape of librarianship\, addressing the evolving roles and expanding spaces that librarians now occupy.
