The Bombay Science Librarian’s Association (BOSLA), established in October 1977, emerged as a response to the pressing challenges faced by scientific libraries in the mid-1970s. During this time, librarians working in scientific institutions realized that their existing resources were insufficient to adequately meet the needs of the scientific community.

BOSLA is the Library and Information Science Professionals Association
with the aim to achieve professional growth and development. It is one of the oldest Library Associations formed in 1977 with the initiatives
of the Librarians from TIFR, BARC, IIT and UDCT. BOSLA membership is growing
and at present it has more than 500 members from a wide range of Libraries viz., Research, Academic, College, Corporate, etc. BOSLA organises conferences, seminars and workshops in LIS domain to enhance the professional knowledge and skills. Further, BOSLA recognises the outstanding contributions & achievements of the members and felicitate them.
